FAQ's

1.          Q.  Do we have to fill out the Information form if we are already filling out the Voter Registration form?

A.  YES!  The information on the Information form is different from the information on the Voter Registration form.  It is very important to get ALL INFORMATION to be able to get credit for prizes.

2.         Q.  Can someone who is already registered fill out a Voter registration form?

            A.  Yes.  Sometimes people are registered at an old address or want to change their political party so they can vote in primaries.  Have everyone fill out both forms.  If they are already registered, you will still get credit for prizes in levels A-G and be entered into the raffle for the iPad 2 for every 6  COMPLETE Voter Registrations submitted.

3.         Q.  What does “new registration” mean?

            A.  Someone who was never registered to vote in NY State before now.

4.         Q.  Who are we voting for?

            A.  This is just a Voter Registration.  It allows the person who fills out the form to vote on election day, which is always the first Tuesday in November.

5.         Q.  In Category J, it is a choice of the KInect OR the Nintendo 3DS?

            A.  YES!  Pick the one you like best!

6.         Q.  Do the people who are registering to vote need to volunteer to help with something? (Section 14 of the Voter Registration form)

            A.  Section 14 is optional…they do not have to fill it out.

7.         Q.  Does the person registering have to live in Brooklyn?

            A.  YES – for our contest we can only accept voter registrations from people with a Brooklyn address who meet all the other requirements:  US Citizen, will be 18 by December 31, 2011, and all others listed on the form.

8.         Q.  When will we get our prizes?

            A.  The contest is over May 23rd.  The prizes will be delivered to your school before the last week of school.  Higher level prizes will be delivered to your home.  Please fill out all personal information so we can contact you if we have questions for you!

9.         Q.  What do we say when we knock on someone's door?

             A. This is an excellent question!!!!  Introduce yourself and tell them that you are taking part in a contest to collect voter registrations.  Ask if they are citizens and if they are registered to vote.  If they are citizens and over 18 and not registered, ask if they wouldn't mind filling out a Voter Registration Form and the Information Sheet to become registered and so you can win prizes.  Tell them that their information will only be used to remind them to vote when it is close to Election Day.

It is easier to try to get people you know to do this than strangers, but good luck and if they say no, you can use the ides on the comic to try to convince them.  If they still say no, thank them and move on!

10.        Q. If someone changes their address do they have to register again? Also, is there any expiration from when someone first registered?

                  A.  Great questions! Yes, you need to re-register when you move-the good news is for our contest this counts as a NEW registration! Also, if someone registers, but doesn't vote for a number of years, maybe it's 4, they will be taken out of the system and need to register again.

11.           Q.  Can one person fill out forms for more than one contestant?  In other words, can your aunt fill out a form for you, your cousin and your brother?

                 A. Sorry, no!  One form per person.  If we can tell who filled it out first, it will count for that person.  If we can't, then that person's form will be disqualified, so tell all people you register not to fill out multiple forms,
